Net Metering

Net metering is an electricity policy for consumers that are capable of producing energy by any means. This concept establishes that the Puerto Rico Power and Electric Authority or “Autoridad de Energia Electrica” is obligated to buy any energy produced from your renewable energy system. This means that in those hours that you are not consuming all the power the system can deliver, you will sell that energy to PREPA. Whenever you need to buy any amount of energy, you can do so. This means that when there is no sun or wind for your system to generate power, you have the option to buy back the energy that you sold to PREPA. The goal of this concept is to sell during the day the energy consumption that you will have during the night. Green Energy and Fuels Inc. will design and develop a system that will let you accomplish that. Just think of PREPA as your battery source, the energy that you will sell them is the same amount of energy that you will buy in the night. All energy in excess will be paid to you by PREPA at 7.5 cents per kWh.
